to Vardhman's "Ladakh Safari Tour"!
On arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport, you will be received
by our representative at Kushok Bakula Airport Leh and then
transfer to hotel. Take complete rest to acclimatize yourself.
Evening free at Leh bazaar.

Day 02: Leh
After breakfast proceed to visit the most important monasteries
of central Ladakh along river Indus. Visit Thiksey,Hemis monasteries
and Stok Palace Museum.
Hemis Gompa: Ladakh's largest monastery. It contains a number
of gold statues and Stupas decorated with precious stones
and a superb collection of Thankas, including one that is
the largest in existence. Hemis gompa is believed to have
been established in 1630 by Lama Tagstang Raspa and built
by Palden Sara under the patronage of King Sengge Namgyal
on a site previously sanctified by the construction of a cave
hermitage dating from the 12th century. This monastery is
the oldest one in the area belonging to the Kargyu school.
The Gompa is a unique example of a monastic complex of this
period which manifests in its structure the geomantic principles
which underlie religious constructions of this type.
Stok Palace & Museum : The palace of the banished royal
family, Stok has a museum which displays fabulous period costumes
and jewelry of the royalty along with exquisite Thankas representing
the life style of Shakya Muni. Interesting historical objects
like coins, armor, weapons, precious jades and porcelain too
can be seen here.
Thiksey Gompa : 19 Kms from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey
is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive
Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompas, containing
images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite.
Return to your hotel in Leh in the evening.

Day
03: Leh - Hunder (3048M/ 125 Kms)
This morning after leisurely breakfast drive to Hunder. Hunder
is the last visit-able village, as other places have Army
restrictions.
After 39 kms from Leh cross over the highest motorable road
in the world Khardung-La (5,578 MT). The view from the top
is simply amazing. Enter Nubra Valley situated along river
Shayok. The valley is covered with dense thickets of seabuckthorn
- a throny schurb which the villagers use for fuel and fencing
their fields. Enroute drive past the capital Diskit. Drive
another 9 kms further and arrive at the small village of Hunder
(3,048 mt). Upon arrival check into your tent.

Day 04: Hunder - Diskit
Early morning proceed to visit Chamba monastery of Hunder
and then start the Safari on the shabby double-humped Bactrian
camels, which in olden days were the main mode of transport
on the Ladakh-Yarkhand (Turkmanistan) trade. The Safari goes
along the soft white sandy deserts with rolling sand dunes.
Arrival at the capital of Nubra i.e. Diskit.
Afternoon proceed to explore the Diskit Village. Being the
main town of Nubra, it has a small market bustling with activity.
Also visit the Gompa, situated on a rocky spur above the village
providing a commanding view of the valley.

Day 05: Diskit - Tegger-Pinchimic
This morning drive to Tegger village (3,146 mt). Upon arrival
visit Samstanling village off the main road and is one of
the most charming villages of Nubra. Visit Samstanling Gompa.
Afternoon start Safari to reach Pinchimic. The Safari is comparatively
short and goes along the river where the valley is well spread.
Arrive at Pinchimic and check into your tent for an overnight
rest.

Day 06: Pinchimic - Panamic
Early morning start the last leg of Safari to Panamic. Enroute
visit a beautiful lake chucked between two small hills. Check
in at the camps upon arrival. Afternoon explore Panamic village.
During the trade between Central Asia and Ladakh, Panamic
was the lastmajor settlement before the caravans cross the
Karakoram range. Today, Panamic is a sleepy village, with
its people quitly working in their fields. Visit the village
thermal Hot Springs locally reputed to have therapeutic qualities.

07: Panamic - Leh
Morning visit to Ensa Gompa across the river clinging precariously
to the mountain sorrounded by few trees.
Ensa Gompa: It is a small 250-year-old monastery, situated
near Panamik Village. The gompa is nestled on top of a rock
overlooking the snow-peaked mountains across the valley. It
takes at least two to three-hour trek to reach the Gompa from
the Panamik Village.
Later drive back to Leh. Arrive by the late evening and check
in at your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 08: Leh
Full day free at leisure to explore the market. Evening proceed
for Folk dances of Ladakh programme.

Day 09: Leh - Delhi
On the last day of your tour transfer to Leh aiport to catch
flight for Delhi. On arrival at Delhi domestic airport transfer
to Delhi International airport (through Shuttle services available
free of cost at the airport) to board the flight for your
onward journey to back home with sweet and pleasant memories
of your "Ladakh Safari Tour" escorted by Vardhman
Vacations.
