Your day to day itinerary Day 1: Chennai (Madras) Begin your tour Land Chennai airport/railway station Welcome to Vardhman's "Panoramic South India tour" Vardhman's representative will meet & greet you & then will transfer you to your hotel. Relax for the remaining part of the day. Overnight: Hotel Day 2: Chennai This morning after breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Chennai Visit Fort St. George, San Thome Cathedral and the museum to see the Art and Bronze Gallery. (Closed on Fridays and Public holidays), High court, Marina Beach, San Thome Cathedral and Snake Park. Overnight: Hotel Day 3: Chennai - VGP - Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram Early morning drive to Kanchipuram. Enroute visit VGP and Mahabalipuram. Reach Kanchipuram and check into your hotel. Later visit Kanchipuram. Overnight: Hotel Day 4: Kanchipuram - Melmaruvathur - Thiruvannmalai - Pondicherry Leave for Melmaruvathur in the morning - There we would visit the Melmaruvathur Adiparasakthi amman temple which is one of the most famous temple in South India - The we would leave for Thiruvannamalai which has a famous ancient temple called Arunachaleeswarar Temple - then leave to Pondicherry and Check-in the hotel. Overnight: Hotel Day 5: Pondicherry - Chidamabaram - Vaideeswaran Kovil- Kumbakonam After having the delicious breakfast, proceed to visit Aurobindo Ashramam, a centre for the practice of Integral Yoga and then to Auroville which is envisioned as a Universal Town where people from different nationalities, faiths and beliefs. Then leave for Chidambaram there you would visit the Lord Nataraj Temple. Enroute vast Vaideeswaran Kovil. Then we would leave for Kumbakonam, a temple city - on the way, you would visit the temple. Continue drive to Kumbakonam. Reach & check in at your hotel. Overnight: Hotel Day 6: Kumbakonam - Swamimalai - Tanjore You would visit the Big Temple of Lord Pragatheeswarar which is an example for the Indian sculptural architecture's greatness. In the afternoon drive to Tanjore. Enroute visit Swamimalai temple. Then continue drive to Tanjore. Reach and check into your hotel for an overnight rest. Overnight: Hotel Day 7: Tanjore - Trichy After breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing trip of Tanjore city. Visit the Thanjavur Palace, the Breehadishwara Temple and the Fort. Later drive to Trichy and check in to your hotel. Later visit the famous Rock Fort Temple and Sri Ranganathaswami Temple. Overnight: Hotel Day 8: Trichy - Palani - Kodaikanal Today after breakfast leave for Kodaikanal early in the morning. Visit Palani temples on the way to Kodaikanal. On arrival at Kodaikanal, check into your hotel and relax for the remaining part of the day. Overnight: Hotel Day 9: Kodaikanal - Madurai This morning visit various tourist attractions during your Kodaikanal tour. Visit Cocker's Walk, Golf Links, Green Valley View, Pillar Rocks, Silver Cascade Falls, Bear Shola Falls & the Lake etc. Later drive to Madurai and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit the great Meenakshi Temple dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva with its towering gopurams - (rising high above the surrounding countryside). Later, visit the Tirumala Nayak Palace - a gracious building in the Indo-Saracenic style, famous for the stucco work on its domes and arches. Overnight: Hotel Day 10: Madurai - Rameshwaram - Madurai Full day excursion of Rameshwaram. Rameshwaram is one of the four dhamas, or kingdoms of God. The other three are Badrinath, Puri and Dwarka. It is known as the Varanasi of the South. Rameswaram is located at the southeastern end of the Indian Peninsula on the Gulf of Mannar. It is on the eastern side of an island, which is the shape of a conch shell, 55km by 12km. In the evening return to Madurai. Overnight: Hotel Day 11: Madurai - Tiruchendur - Kanyakumari This morning drive to visit Thiruchendur Murugan Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Murga and one of the Arupadaiveedu (six major abodes) of Lord Muruga. After sightseeing continue drive to Kanyakumari. Reach Kanyakumari and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit Kanyakumari - is the land's end of India where the water of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet. An important pilgrim centre of India, it is famous for the Amman Temples - a symbol of unity and sanctity - deidicated to the virgin Goddess, Kanyakumari. To its South - East lies the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial, a blend of all the architectural styles of India. Overnight: Hotel Day 12: Kanyakumari - Suchindram - Kovalam - Trivandrum This morning drive to Suchindram temple. Susindram Temple has a 7 tier majestic Gopuram (tower) and is built over many centuries to represent the finest Dravidian style of Temple architecture. There are 30 magnificently carved shrines including an 18 feet statue of Anjaneya (Hanuman) that is carved out of a single granite stone. Then there are musical pillars that emit sounds of different musical instruments when struck, sculpture of Vigneshwari, the female representation of Lord Vinayagar, the 9 navagrahams located up the ceiling. Later drive to Trivandrum. Enroute visit Kovalam and Trivandrum. Reach Trivandrum and check into your hotel for an overnight rest. Overnight: Hotel Day 13: Trivandrum - Alleppey Early Morning, drive to Alleppey and on arrival, switch over to the House Boat and cruise along the backwaters, passing through paddy fields, villages, market etc. The cruise is through `Kuttanad' literally meaning the land which is lower than the sea level but is kept intact by its bunds and dikes. It is the `rice bowl' of Kerala. The rice fields are very beautiful and this lush land and surrounds governs the placid way of life of the people who live on the backwaters. Overnight: Houseboat Day 14: Alleppey - Cochin/Kochi The houseboat comes to halt at Alleppey. Disembark the Houseboat after breakfast and then drive to Cochin. Reach and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit the Dutch palace, Jewish Synagogue, Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Church. Also visit the Hill Palace Museum which displays articles of archeological importance. Overnight: Hotel Day 15: Cochin - Chotanikarai - Guruvayur This morning drive to Guruvayur. Enroute visit Chotanikarai temple. Reach Guruvayur and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit Sree Krishna Temple and then taken to Punnathur Kotta, 2 km away from Guruvayur, the place where the temple elephants over 50 are taken care of. Overnight: Hotel Day 16: Guruvayur - Coimbatore Early morning drive to Coimbatore. Reach Coimbatore and check into your hotel. Later visit Coimbatore. Overnight: Hotel Day 17: Coimbatore - Ooty This morning after breakfast drive to Ooty and check-in at the hotel. Later proceed for sightseeing to Ooty Lake, Botanical Gardens, Dodda Betta etc Overnight: Hotel Day 18: Ooty - Mysore After breakfast drive to Mysore and transfer to hotel. Afternoon depart for half-day city tour, visit the Maharaja's Palace, the lush Brindavan Gardens with its dancing fountains built on the terraces of Krishnarajasagar Dam, St.Philomena's Church built in an imposing Gothic style, the Jaganmohan Palace which was converted into an art gallery in 1875 and the Chamundi Hills. Mysore is also called the city of Palaces; Mysore combines traditional grandeur with modernity and emerges as one of the most beautiful and best planned cities in India. Overnight: Hotel Day 19: Mysore - Bangalore After breakfast drive to Bangalore and transfer to hotel. Bangalore: This bustling capital city of Karnataka has a perpetual holiday atmosphere. It is multifaceted modern marvels, historical monuments, bustling shopping plazas, a golf course and a race course. A trip here can be truly delightful. Bangalore is known as the city of draught beer. It is also known as the 'garden city' and the 'silicon valley' of India since it is the IT capital of India. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight: Hotel Day 20: Bangalore - Vellore - Tirupathi This morning after breakfast drive to Tirupathi. Enroute visit Vellore. Reach Tirupathi and check into your hotel for an overnight rest. Overnight: Hotel Day 21: Tirupathi/Tirupati Early morning proceed to visit of Tirupati- one of the most important & the richest temple of the world. It is famous for the shrine of "Seven hills" of Tirumala, which attract millions of pilgrims from all over India. Picturesquely situated amidst sacred waterfalls and tanks, the shrine presents a fine example of early Dravidian art. In front of it is the "Hall of Pillars" from where an attractive stepped way leads to the temple. The term 'Tirupati' is made of two words, where 'Tiru' means 'Sri' and 'Pati' means 'Husband'. Thus, 'Tirupati' suggests 'Maha Vishnu' or 'Lord of Maha Lakshmi'. Dotted with several temples and immersed in the divine aura in conjunction with scenic beauty, Tirupathi appears truly charismatic. Apart from Sri Venkateswara Temple, there are many famous shrines here, like those of Govindaraja, Rama, Mallikarjuna, etc. Overnight: Hotel Day 22: Tirupathi - Chennai This morning after breakfast drive back to Chennai. Reach and check into your hotel. Relax for the remaining part of the day. Overnight: Hotel Day 23: Chennai Day free to explore the city at your own.
