Your day to day itinerary Day 1: Trichy Begin your tour Arrive Trichy airport/railway station Vardhman representative will meet and greet you & then will transfer you to your hotel. Freshen up & then proceed on a city tour. Visit Srirangam and Jambukeshwar Temple and Rock fort Overnight: Hotel Day 2: Trichy-Kumbakonam Early in the morning after breakfast drive to Kumbakonam. Reach and check into your hotel. Freshen up and the procced to visit Temples of Kumbakonam. Some of the famous temples of Kumbakonam are the Sarangpani temple (a Vaishnavite temple), Chakrapani temple, Kumbeswara temple, Nageswaran and the Airavatesvara temple Kumbakonam tours. Chakrapani Temples -The main residing deity at the Chakrapani Temple is Chakraraja. The Chakrapani temple is also a superb exponent of the early temple architecture. The most peculiar point about the Chakrapani temple is that Vilva archana, which is normally performed in Shiva temples, is also performed here for Lord Vishnu. Kumbeswara Temples - Kumbeswara is an important Saivite temple situated in the central part of the Kumbakonam town. Shri Adhi Kumbeswara is the presiding God with Manthrapeeteswari Mangalambika as his Consort. The Kumbeswara temple complex is quite enormous and beautiful. The Mahamaham festival, which takes place once every 12 years during the Tamil Month of Masi (February-March), is the main festival. The Mahamaham festival attracts lakhs of pilgrims from different parts of India. Overnight: Hotel Day 3: Kumbakonam-Trichy Morning proceed on to visit temples of Kumbakonam. Nageswaran Temple - Nageswaran Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Aditya Chola constructed the Nageswaran temple during the12th century. The Nageswaran is a great example of the Chola architecture and astronomy. The Sanctum Sanctorum of the Nageswaran temple is similar to that of Sarangapani temple. Sarangapani Temples - Sarangpani is a famous vaishnav temple. It is also known for its tall gopuram (tower). The Chariot festival, which takes place every year, is one of the biggest festivals. Someswar Temple - Someswar Temple is located in the southern portion of Sri Sarangapani temple. The architectural style of Someswar temple resembles the Dravidian style of temple architecture of 13th century (Chola period) Kumbakonam tour travel. Airavatesvara Temple - The Airavatesvara temple is situated at Dharasuram, 4 km west of the Kumbakonam town Tours to Kumbakonam. The Airavatesvara (Airavat means white elephant) temple was constructed by Rajaraja Chola and is a superb example of the Chola architecture. Stories from epics and Hindu mythology are depicted all over the temple in Kumbakonam tours. Later drive back to Trichy. Reach and check into your hotel for an overnight rest. Overnight: Hotel Day 4: Trichy-Madurai Early in the morning drive to Madurai. Reach and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit the great Meenakshi Temple dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva with its towering Gopurams (rising high above the surrounding country side). Later, visit the Tirumala Nayak Palace - A gracious building in the Indo saracenic style, famous for the Stucco work on its domes & arches. There is also an extensive museum dedicated to the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi. Overnight: Hotel Day 5: Madurai-Palani On day 5 of your tour drive to Palani. Reach and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit the most famous temple here is the Dhandayudhapani Temple dedicated to the Lord Murugan. It is situated at about 1500 feet above sea level and has stairs leading to the hilltop on which the temple lies. The Thiru Avinankudi and Pada Vinayakar are shrines located around this temple. A temple dedicated to the goddess Parvati called the Periyanayaki Amman is located in the town. The Mariyamman Temple and the Perumal Temple are located near the Periyanayaki temple. The Mariyamman temple is given significance by devotees who visit it to seek protection from illnesses. Overnight: Hotel Day 6: Palani-Ooty (206kms) This morning after breakfast drive to Ooty -the Beautiful leading hill resort of south India. Situated in the heart of the Nilgiris (Blue Mountains), at the height of 2287 Meter, it lies on a plateau and looks like a vast park. Lofty hills add to the grandeur of the scenery. Its climate is similar to summer in England. The terraced beautiful gardens, which are landmark in Ooty. Ooty is also known for its tea & coffee plantations. Reach & check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight: Hotel Day 7: Ooty Full day sightseeing of this beautiful Hill Station. Visit the lake, Botanical Gardens, Conoor Tea Gardens, Sim's Park, Dolphin's Nose. Later visit Film shooting points & other points of interest or shopping etc. Overnight: Hotel Day 8: Ooty-Thiruvannamalai (354kms/7-8hrs drive) Early in the morning drive to Thiruvannamalai. Reach by the evening and then transfer to your hotel. Relax for rest of the day. Overnight: Hotel Day 9: Thiruvannamalai Annamalaiyaar Temple Full day at Thiruvannamalai Annamalaiyaar Temple. Giravalam at the temple: One of the important events of this holy place is the circumambulation of the Arunachala hill generally called as Girivalam. "Giri" means hill and "valam" means circumambulation. Thousands and thousands of people across religions circumambulate the hill barefoot on auspicious days like Karthiga Deepam, Maha Shiva rathri, Full Moon Nights. The Hill is 2668 Feet tall approximately and the circumambulation distance is around 16Km. It is a strong belief that by circumambulating Arunachala hill with complete faith all the past karmas are cleansed. Overnight: Hotel Day 10: Thiruvannamalai Full day city tour of Thiruvannamalai. Visit Sathanur Dam of Thiruvannamalai, Arakandanallur ,Rajagiri ,Panamalai , Thiruvakkarai. Overnight: Hotel Day 11: Thiruvannamalai-Mahabalipuram On day 11 of your tour drive to Mahabalipuram. Upon arrival check into your hotel. Relax for the remaining part of the day. Overnight: Hotel Day 12: Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram Morning visit Mahabalipuram. The city of Mahabalipuram is famous for the seven pagodas. Here on the seashore is an interesting group of ancient rock hewn temples which are the examples of Dravidian style of Architecture. Later drive to Kanchipuram. Reach and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks. Overnight: Hotel Day 13: Mahabalipuram -Kanchipuram- Chennai After a leisurely breakfast drive to Chennai. Reach Chennai and check into your hotel. Freshen up and then visit the city. Visit museum to see the Art and Bronze Gallery. (Closed on Fridays and Public holidays). Drive through the Flower and Fruit market, High court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach, San Thome Cathedral and Snake Park.
