09 Nights / 10 Days Day 01 Delhi Begin your tour. Arrive
into Delhi.Welcome to Vardhman's 'Monasteries In Ladhak Tour'! On arrival in Delhi,
you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's representative to your hotel. Relax
for a while and later proceed for the sightseeing of Delhi.Combined city tour
of New Delhi & Old DelhiVisit Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Lakshminarayan
Temple, a modern Hindu Temple, Parliament House, Government Secretarial Building
and Connaught place, the shopping centre of New Delhi.Visit Red Fort, built in
1648 by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan, Jama Masjid, one of the largest Mosque of India,
Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana, the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawaharlal
Nehru. Also drive past Chandni Chowk, shopping centre of Old Delhi. Overnight
:Hotel Day 02 - Delhi - Leh After breakfast transfer to Delhi
airport to connect flight for Leh. On arrival you will be met and transferred
to your hotel by our representative. Complete day for the acclimatization which
is 3500 meters above sea level. In the evening take a short walk around Leh bazaar
at your own.Overnight :Hotel Day 03 - Leh Full day excursion
to the famous monasteries, it is interesting to visit early in the morning to
enjoy the praying ceremony at Thiksey monastery. Continue drive to Hemis monastery
which is one of the most famous of the Ladakh region. On the way back visit to
Shey Palace.Hemis Gompa: Ladakh's largest monastery. It contains a number of gold
statues and Stupas decorated with precious stones and a superb collection of Thankas,
including one that is the largest in existence. Hemis gompa is believed to have
been established in 1630 by Lama Tagstang Raspa and built by Palden Sara under
the patronage of King Sengge Namgyal on a site previously sanctified by the construction
of a cave hermitage dating from the 12th century. This monastery is the oldest
one in the area belonging to the Kargyu school. The Gompa is a unique example
of a monastic complex of this period which manifests in its structure the geomantic
principles which underlie religious constructions of this type. Shey
Palace And Gompa : Shey palace with its remarkable statue of Buddha and panoramic
views of Indus valley. Situated on a hillock 15 Kms upstream from Leh, it was
once the residence of the royal family. According to tradition, it was the seat
of power of the pre-Tibetan kinds. A 7.5 mts high copper statue of Buddha, plated
with gold and the largest of its kind, is installed here. Thiksey Gompa
: 19 Kms from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey is one of the largest and architecturally
most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompas, containing images,
stupas and wall paintings of Buddha, which are exquisite.Overnight :Hotel Day
4 - Leh On the day 4 of your tour proceed on a half day visit of Spituk
& Phyang monastery. Afternoon visit by foot to Kings Palace, Leh Mosque, Leh
Gompa, Shankar Gompa and Leh bazaar. Sankar Gompa & Village : A relatively
modern monastery, it is closely associated with the Spituk monastery and served
as the residence of the late head priest-Kushak Bakula. A number of gold icons
are to be found here. Phiyang Gompa : 17 Kms from Leh on the Leh-Kargil
road, it looks like a huge palace from afar, build by Tashi Spituk Monastery:
Namgyal in the later half of the 16th century AD, it belongs to the Red Cap sect
of Buddhists. Hundreds of icon of Buddha and other gods are kept on wooden shelves.
The Spituk Monastery of Ladakh is situated at a distance of approximately 8 km
from the town of Leh. Towering over a conical, the 3-chapel monastery dates back
to the 11th century, when it was founded century by Od-de, the elder brother of
Lha Lama Changchub Od. He was the one to introduce a monastic community here.
When a translator, Rinchen Zangpo, came to this place, he said that an exemplary
religious community would develop there. This statement led to the naming of the
monastery as Spituk, meaning Exemplary. Overnight :Hotel Day 5 -
Leh Full day excursion to Khardongla pass, which is the highest motorable
pass in the world 5600 meters and has been recorded in the Guniees Book of World
Records. At the top enjoy the nature beauty of snow capped mountains. Later in
the afternoon return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.Overnight :Hotel Day
6 - Leh - Alchi Leave for Alchi monastery known as Alchi Choskor is the
only monastery in the Ladakh on flat ground. On the way visit Bazgo Castle lie
on the right bank of the Indus valley. By the lunch time you reach Alchi. Afternoon
visit the Alchi monastery and explore the nature beauty of Alchi village. Alchi
Gompa : 70 Kms from Leh, on the banks of the Indus, is the Alchi Gompa dating
a thousand years back. One of its walls features thousands of miniature sized
pictures of the Buddha. Three large sized images made of clay and painted brightly
are its focal attractions. No longer an active religious center, it is looked
after by monks from the Liker monastery. This is the only monastery amongst 34
monasteries, which is not located on a hilltop. Arrive Alchi and check into your
hotel for an overnight stay.Overnight :Hotel Day 7 - Alchi - Lamayuru
- Leh Drive back to Leh. Enroute visit Lamayuru Monastery via Khaltsi
(passport checking point). From here another 22 kms drive will take us to Lamayuru.
The oldest and spectacularly se Lamayuru monastery founded in the 10th Century.
Visit the monastery. Lamayuru Monastery : Overnight :Hotel Day 8 - Leh
After breakfast half day visit to Stok Palace. The Palace was built by
King Tsespal Tondup Namgyal in 1825. On the way back visit the Choglamsar village
(The Tibetan refugee Camp) which is famous for Tibetan Culture, History and Buddhism.
Afternoon day for personal activities or visit to the local Ladakhi family house
which can be arranged on request.Stok Palace & Museum : The palace of the
banished royal family, Stok has a museum which displays fabulous period costumes
and jewelry of the royalty along with exquisite Thankas representing the life
style of Shakya Muni. Interesting historical objects like coins, armor, weapons,
precious jades and porcelain too can be seen here. Overnight :Hotel Day
9 - Leh - Delhi After breakfast transfer to airport to catch flight for
Delhi. Upon arrival you will be met and transfer to you hotel byour representative.
Relax for remaining part of teh day.Overnight :Hotel Day 10 - Delhi
This morning after breakfast and transfer to Delhi International airport board
the flight for your onward journey to back home with sweet and unforgettable memories
