Coimbatore home to Sree Annapoorna and its famed business can at best be described as the industrial heartland of South India . It started out as a city of cotton and became the Manchester of South India.
The name Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar has today become synonymous with quality at a reasonable price. In the early 1960's Coimbatore thrived in the wake of enterprising individuals. On such individual was Mr.Dhamodaraswamy Naidu who started out in 1957 along with his brother's Shri K.Rangaswamy Naidu, Shri.K.Ramaswamy Naidu and Shri K.Lakshmanan Naidu by establishing catering units in theatre complexes. In 1968 comes the unique brand that has enlarged in magnificence today "Sree Annapoorna" a restaurant that supplies food.Dr.Dhamodaraswamy naidu was given the doctorate in Avinashilingam deemed university on 28.10.1999 and now at the moment he is been elected as the President of Tamil Nadu Hotel Association on 14.08.2004.
Above anything else, the crowning glory of Annapoorna is the name and fame it has earned for its coffee. Annapoorna coffee enjoys the rare distinction of 50000 cups of consumption per day, (The highest in Asia for a restaurant).

Sree Annapoorna has a full range of vegetarian items, from appetizers to desserts. And they always have blackboard specials from which to choose. Sree Annapoorna's menus, which are of a balanced combination of Chinese, international and local cuisine, are changed periodically to cater for everyone's taste. Between these 14 restaurants, nearly 6 million cups of coffee – a perennial favorite with customers – are sold.
