According to legends, it was first built by the <strong>Moon God in gold<\/strong>, later rebuilt by <strong>Ravana in silver<\/strong>, <strong>Lord Krishna in wood<\/strong>, and finally by <strong>King Bhimdev in stone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>1024 AD<\/strong>, the temple was badly damaged and looted by <strong>Mahmud of Ghazni<\/strong>.
