Panamik: It is a highly beautiful place blessed by beauty, rugged mountains and hot springs. The incredible thing about the village is the superb irrigation system built over decades which provided an effective means to channel precious water during summer to the homes as well as the fields. It is around 9 km from the beginning of the Siachen glacier. The rocks around are slippery, not only with the poisonously-green, virulent algae and moss growing wild in the unexpected warmth, but also with the sulphur coating - chemical from deep within the Earth's crust, making a natural soap.

It originates from a glacier, the Nubra Glacier, in a depression to the east of Saltoro Kangri Peak and north-west of the Siser La Pass and drains into the Indus River in Ladakh. It is situated at an altitude of 3048 mts and formed out of the Nubra River. The deposit brought down by the glacier in past ages can be seen in this valley.
