The trek starts and ends at Khati Village (2,210 m / 7,251 ft), the last road-accessible village in the area. From here, the trail spans 50 km round trip and reaches its highest point at Pindari Glacier (3,660 m / 12,008 ft).
Along the way, you pass through Dhoor Village (2,500 m), where you can see breathtaking views of Nanda Kot (6,861 m), Maiktoli (6,803 m), and Panwali Dwar (6,663 m). The trail continues to Phurkiya (3,250 m), the last settlement before reaching Pindari Zero Point, offering spectacular glacier views.
The trek includes wooden bridge crossings, walks along glacial streams, and peaceful landscapes that provide a rewarding experience for both beginners and seasoned trekkers.
Your Pindari Glacier Trek begins early in the morning with a pickup from Kathgodam Railway Station at 6:30 AM. Enjoy a scenic drive through beautiful hill towns such as Bhimtal, Almora, Bageshwar, Kapkot, Bharadi, and Dhoor, before reaching Khati Village (2,210 m) by around 5:00 PM.
Khati is the last motorable village on this trekking route and is known for its warm hospitality and traditional Kumaoni culture. Upon arrival, check into a comfortable local homestay and relax after the long drive.
In the evening, enjoy a group dinner and interact with your trek leader, who will give a detailed briefing about the trek, challenges, and safety guidelines to prepare you for the adventure ahead.
The real adventure begins today! After an early breakfast at 7:00 AM, start your 13 km trek to Dwali (2,850 m). The trail offers a pleasant mix of gentle climbs and forest walks, surrounded by lush oak and rhododendron trees, with the Pindar River accompanying you along the way.
The journey is long but refreshing, filled with fresh mountain air, birdsong, and stunning views at every turn. By 3:00–4:00 PM, you’ll arrive at Dwali, a peaceful stop nestled in the valley.
Check into a cozy guesthouse, enjoy a hot meal, and spend the evening relaxing amid the tranquil Himalayan surroundings, preparing for another exciting day ahead.
Today’s trek is short but scenic. After a relaxed breakfast, we begin our journey to Phurkiya (3,250 m) at 8:00 AM. The trail is mostly easy, passing through beautiful forested paths and mountain views, but the last 2 km involve a steep climb before reaching Phurkiya.
We’ll reach Phurkiya by midday, where a freshly cooked lunch awaits. The rest of the day is for rest and acclimatization, as we have now gained considerable altitude. Spend your evening breathing in the crisp mountain air, admiring the stunning Himalayan scenery, and preparing for the big day ahead.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Phurkiya.
This is the most exciting and rewarding day of the trek! We start early at 5:00 AM to reach the Pindari Glacier Zero Point (3,660 m) by early afternoon. The 8 km trail is gradual but long, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and alpine landscapes all along the way.
On the route, we’ll stop for a short break at the ashram of Shri Swami Shraddha Nand Ji Maharaj, a serene spiritual retreat nestled in the Himalayas. As you approach Zero Point, the magnificent Pindari Glacier unfolds before you — surrounded by towering peaks like Baljuri (5,922 m), Nanda Kot (6,861 m), and Panwali Dwar (6,663 m).
Spend some peaceful moments at the glacier, soaking in the spectacular views and tranquil atmosphere. After enjoying your packed lunch, begin the return trek to Phurkiya, reaching back by early evening.
End the day with a hearty dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Phurkiya.
After breakfast, we begin our return journey from Phurkiya to Dwali, and then continue trekking back to Khati Village (2,210 m). This 18 km descent takes you through the same scenic valleys and forests, offering a fresh perspective of the beautiful trails you trekked earlier.
We’ll stop for lunch at Dwali or enjoy packed meals along the way, depending on the group’s pace. By late evening, we reach Khati Village, where cozy homestays and friendly locals welcome us once again.
In the evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner with your trekking companions — a perfect way to celebrate the completion of your Pindari Glacier adventure.
After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the mountains and begin the drive back to Kathgodam. The journey takes you once again through the beautiful valleys and forested hills of Uttarakhand, offering one last look at the breathtaking Himalayan scenery.
Take this time to reflect on your incredible trekking experience and the unforgettable memories made along the way. We’ll reach Kathgodam by late afternoon, marking the end of the Pindari Glacier Trek — a journey filled with adventure, natural beauty, and lasting friendships.
