The Kagudi Bhel Pass Trek is a high-altitude adventure in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. At 4,750 meters, this trek connects the Ramganga Valley to the Johar Valley, offering a remote and thrilling Himalayan experience.
The journey starts from Gogina Village (2,600 m) in Bageshwar and covers approximately 60 km, ending at Munsiyari (2,200 m). Along the way, trekkers will explore stunning landscapes and challenging terrains, including:
The trek involves a steep descent from Kagudi Bhel Pass to Mohar Pani (3,600 m) and Poting (3,400 m), making it suitable only for experienced trekkers.
During these months, the skies are clear, offering panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
The adventure begins early in the morning at 6:30 AM from Kathgodam Railway Station. Trekkers travel to Gogina Village in the Bageshwar district by shared Bolero.
The 8-9 hour scenic drive takes you through dense forests, charming villages, and beautiful mountain landscapes.
On arrival in the evening, the trek leader welcomes the group and guides them to a homestay or campsite for the night. After dinner, a briefing session is conducted to prepare trekkers for the journey ahead.
After a relaxing morning following the long drive, the trek begins late in the day.
The short 4 km trek to Namik Village involves gentle ascents and descents and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
Trekkers arrive at the Namik campsite in time for a freshly cooked lunch, and spend the evening enjoying the serene surroundings. Overnight stay and dinner are arranged at the campsite.
The day starts early at 7:00 AM with a packed lunch for the trek. The 8 km journey takes you through dense forests, flowing mountain streams, and scenic alpine meadows. The trail gradually ascends to Thala Bugyal, a vast high-altitude meadow offering panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
Trekkers reach the campsite by early evening, where they enjoy a warm dinner and overnight stay.
The day begins early to catch the sunrise from Chofu Top. The trek starts with a steep 2 km climb to Thal Top, followed by a gradual ridge walk towards Sudamkham. Along the way, trekkers enjoy 360-degree views of Panchachuli, Khaliya Bugyal, Nandakot, and Kafni Glacier.
By early evening, trekkers reach the Sudamkham campsite, set up their tents, and rest for the night.
The trek starts early in the morning with a packed lunch. The 10 km trail passes through expansive meadows and pristine Himalayan landscapes, offering close-up views of Namik Glacier and Heeramani Glacier.
By late afternoon, trekkers reach the Kagudi Bhel Pass Base Camp, where they set up tents and enjoy dinner under a starlit sky.
The day starts with a steep 4 km climb over rocky boulders and challenging terrain, where safety ropes may be needed.
Trekkers reach Kagudi Bhel Pass (4,750 m) and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. The trail then descends steeply towards Mohar Pani (3,600 m).
This descent requires caution and proper trekking techniques. By evening, trekkers arrive at the Mohar Pani campsite for overnight stay and dinner.

By afternoon, trekkers reach the Poting Glacier campsite, where they can relax and enjoy the peaceful Himalayan surroundings. Overnight stay and dinner are arranged at the campsite.
The day begins with an early morning descent from Poting to Bagudiyar, a key checkpoint along the trek.
After reaching Bagudiyar, trekkers take a 3-hour scenic drive to Munsiyari (2,200 m). Upon arrival, they check into a hotel for rest and evening exploration.
A buffer day is included to manage unforeseen weather conditions or trekking delays.
If the trek is on schedule, trekkers can explore Munsiyari, enjoying breathtaking views of the Panchachuli peaks, experiencing the local culture, and visiting vibrant markets.
After an early breakfast, the return journey begins with a scenic 9-10 hour drive from Munsiyari to Kathgodam.
Trekkers are dropped at the railway station, marking the end of this unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
