The trek starts from Gogina Village (2,200m) in the Bageshwar district and forms a scenic 40 km loop over 5 nights and 6 days, returning to the starting point. It is ideal for those who want to explore remote trails and enjoy nature at its best.
Every step of this trek reveals new perspectives of the Himalayas, blending adventure with tranquility. It’s an excellent option for beginners and those looking for a moderate-level trekking challenge.
Your trek adventure begins with an early morning pickup at 6:30 AM from Kathgodam in a shared Bolero. Enjoy a scenic drive through winding mountain roads, green valleys, and remote villages. By evening, you’ll reach Gogina Village around 5:00 PM.
Once there, settle into your campsite, have a hearty dinner, and rest well to prepare for the trekking journey ahead.
After breakfast, begin your trek towards Namik Village, a short but scenic 4 km walk through lush forests and terraced fields. The trail involves a gentle mix of ascents and descents, making it perfect for acclimatization.
On reaching the Namik Village campsite, enjoy a freshly cooked lunch. In the evening, explore the village, interact with locals, and end the day with a traditional dinner before overnight stay at the campsite.
Start early at 7:00 AM after breakfast, carrying a packed lunch. The trek gradually ascends through dense forests, crossing Parwa Thor and Bajimanian Kharak, with stunning views of surrounding peaks along the way.
Reach Thala Bugyal, a beautiful high-altitude meadow, by late afternoon. Enjoy panoramic mountain views, have dinner, and stay overnight at the Thala Bugyal campsite.
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Start early at 6:00 AM after breakfast, carrying a packed lunch.
The trek begins with a steep 1.5 km ascent to Thal Top, followed by a gradual climb to Ranthan Top (3,900m). From the summit, enjoy breathtaking 360° views of Panchachuli Peaks, Khaliya Bugyal, Nanda Kot, and Kafni Glacier.
After soaking in the views, descend to Chofu Top campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up to a stunning sunrise and enjoy breakfast before starting your descent to Namik Village. The 10 km trek passes through forests and meadows, retracing parts of the trail.
Reach Namik Village campsite for a freshly cooked lunch, relax in the village, and end the day with a warm dinner before overnight stay at the campsite.
After breakfast, spend some time exploring Namik Village, learning about the local culture and traditions. Begin your trek back to Gogina, stopping by the Ramganga River to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Reach Gogina by afternoon, enjoy your last dinner in the mountains, and rest well in preparation for departure the next day.
After an early breakfast, say goodbye to the Himalayas and begin your return drive to Kathgodam. Enjoy the scenic journey through mountain roads and valleys.
Reach Kathgodam by evening, marking the end of your Ranthan Kharak Trek adventure.
