Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Kathgodam to Dau (1,750 m) | 8–9 Hours Drive

Your trek begins with an early morning pickup at 6:30 AM from Kathgodam in a shared Bolero. The scenic drive to Dau takes 8–9 hours, passing through Almora and Bageshwar, offering stunning views of valleys and winding mountain roads.

On reaching Dau by evening, the trek leader will welcome you and guide you to a homestay for your overnight stay. After dinner, there will be a briefing session covering the trek route, possible challenges, and safety tips to prepare you for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 Dau to Jaitoli (2,350 m) | 7 km Trek

After breakfast, the trek starts at 7:00 AM. The first 2 km is a descent to the Pindar River at Ridang, followed by a 5 km gradual ascent through lush forests and scenic landscapes.

Along the trail, enjoy light refreshments like fruits and dry fruits. By 2:00 PM, you reach Jaitoli, where a freshly cooked lunch awaits. Spend the evening relaxing, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at a homestay or campsite.

Day 3 Jaitoli to Sirai (2,900 m) | 7 km Trek

After breakfast, the trek begins at 8:00 AM. The trail passes through dense forests, providing a calm and immersive experience in nature.

The final stretch leads to the riverbank at Sirai, a serene campsite surrounded by wilderness. Spend the evening relaxing in the peaceful surroundings before dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 4 Sirai to Kathaliya (3,200 m) | 7 km Trek

After breakfast, the trek continues to Kathaliya. This section is the most challenging part of the journey, with a trail running along a glacial river and rough terrain featuring large boulders and landslide-prone areas.

Trekkers must proceed carefully, even experienced hikers need extra attention. On reaching Kathaliya, rest and recover before dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 5 Kathaliya to Maiktoli Base Camp (4,300 m) via Sukhram Cave | 14 km Trek

The day starts early at 6:00 AM with a packed lunch for the trek. The route leads to the stunning Maiktoli Base Camp, with a break at the historic Sukhram Cave along the way.

Reach the base camp by noon and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. After some time at the base, start the return trek to Kathaliya, reaching back by 4:30 PM. Rest and enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 6 Kathaliya to Baluni Top (3,900 m) | 4 km Trek

After a challenging previous day, the trek starts a bit later in the morning. Today’s route is a short but scenic 4 km ascent leading to Baluni Top, an open ridge that offers panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Spend the evening camping under the stars, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 7 Baluni Top to Devi Kund (4,200 m) & Nagkund (4,350 m) and Return | 14 km Trek

Today is one of the most scenic days of the Sunderdhunga Trek. Start early in the morning to make the most of the day. The trail gradually ascends through meadows and rocky terrain, leading to Devi Kund and Nagkund.

Enjoy spectacular views of snow-covered peaks throughout the journey. From Baluni Top, trekkers get an unforgettable panoramic view of the Sunderdhunga Valley. After spending some peaceful time at the top, return to Baluni campsite by 4:30 PM for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8 Baluni Top to Sirai | 11 km Trek

After a long and tiring previous day, today begins with a relaxed morning start. The trail descends back to Kathaliya, where lunch will be served.

From there, continue descending along the same route to reach Sirai by evening. Enjoy a peaceful night at the campsite with dinner and overnight stay surrounded by nature.

Day 9 Sirai to Jaitoli | 7 km Trek

The return journey continues through dense forests and mountain streams, offering a refreshing walk amidst nature. The trail includes a mix of gentle ascents and descents, making it a pleasant day on the trail.

By afternoon, you’ll arrive at Jaitoli, where you can rest, enjoy an evening meal, and spend the night in a homestay or campsite.

Day 10 Jaitoli to Dau | 7 km Trek

The final leg of the trek follows the same route back to Dau. Begin the day with an early breakfast, then trek down to the Pindar River before a gradual ascent toward Dau.

Upon arrival, enjoy a warm meal and take time to reflect on your unforgettable Sunderdhunga adventure. Spend the night at a cozy homestay, celebrating the completion of this incredible Himalayan journey.

Day 11 Dau to Kathgodam | 8–9 Hours Drive

After breakfast, begin your return journey to Kathgodam. The scenic 8–9 hour drive through the winding mountain roads offers one last chance to admire the natural beauty of Uttarakhand.

By evening, you’ll arrive in Kathgodam, marking the end of your unforgettable Sunderdhunga Trek adventure filled with stunning views, serene campsites, and lifelong memories.
