Madurai – Kalugumalai
Kalugumalai Jain Temple is an ancient Jain heritage site located in Kalugumalai, about 50 km from Tirunelveli. This historic hill is known for its beautiful Jain rock-cut carvings and meditation beds used by Jain monks.
This sacred site dates back to the 8th–9th century during the Pandya dynasty. The hill features beautifully carved images of Tirthankaras, reflecting the strong presence of Jainism in Tamil Nadu during ancient times.
During this 2 Nights / 3 Days Kalugumalai Jain Yatra, devotees travel from Madurai to Kalugumalai and explore the historic Jain monuments carved on the rocky hill. The peaceful environment of the hill makes it ideal for meditation and spiritual reflection.
The tour also includes visits to nearby attractions such as the famous Vettuvan Koil, an impressive rock-cut temple known for its unique architecture.

Arrive at Madurai Airport or Railway Station. After arrival, begin your journey to Kalugumalai.
The distance from Madurai to Kalugumalai is approximately 110 km, and the road trip takes about 3–4 hours.
After reaching Kalugumalai, check in at the hotel or dharamshala and relax for some time.
In the evening, visit the Kalugumalai Jain hill carvings. Devotees can see ancient Jain Tirthankara sculptures carved into the rocks.
Spend a peaceful time exploring the hill and enjoying the spiritual atmosphere. Dinner and overnight stay at Kalugumalai.

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel.
Visit the Kalugumalai Jain monuments again in the morning. The hill has many rock-cut sculptures and stone beds used by Jain monks for meditation. The carvings show detailed images of Tirthankaras and inscriptions from the ancient period.
Later visit Vettuvan Koil, a famous monolithic temple carved from a single rock.
You may also visit the nearby Kalugasalamoorthy Temple, located at the foothills of the hill.
Return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Kalugumalai.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel.
You may take a short morning visit to the Jain hill for darshan and photography. Later drive back to Madurai.
If time permits, visit the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple.
Finally, transfer to Madurai Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
